Project Overview

The aquarium is a reduced model of a natural reservoir in which the same processes occur. Today, the problem of overgrowing reservoirs with algae is very urgent. Aquarists have been informed that it is possible to get rid of unwanted vegetation by changing the concentration of phosphates and nitrates in aquarium water.The best ratio is the ratio of phosphates and nitrates 1:11. We decided to conduct an experiment. We analyzed soil, feed and aquarium water using colorimetric and spectrophotometric methods. Every week we again measured the amount of nitrate phosphates in water and the necessary amount of reagents was added. After 3 weeks we achieved the result - the algae from the aquarium disappeared #SciChallenge2017
